We are incredibly happy about the successful conclusion of the SE4Ces project's final event in Brussels, which attracted over 80 participants! This impressive turnout underscores the growing interest in social economy education, a critical element in realizing the European Commission's vision of a 'just transition.' Our discussions highlighted the central role of education reform in this transformative journey.

Future of SE4Ces

Looking ahead, the official Erasmus+ funding for the SE4Ces project may be concluding in March, but this marks not an end, but a new beginning. The dedication and commitment of our consortium partners extend beyond the funding period. They'll work together to implement the master's course, following the EU's accreditation process. Afterward, each university will have the freedom to implement it as they see fit.

Partners will collaborate another 5-8 years and hopefully, we can continue to grow our community.

What does that mean in practice?

Unlike other projects where ties fade away or spill over into new projects and collaboration, we've prioritized sustainability and the creation of a community of practice that will endure beyond the project's lifetime. Tools like our Social Economy Education Wikipedia page, website, social media channels, EPALE, and other platforms will serve this role and remain actively updated. Partners will have regular meetings to discuss the next chapters.

Nonetheless, this event marks the end of the first chapter, in which we would like to thank all of our contributors: all the people involved

Insights from our final event.

Here are some pivotal insights from our final event in Brussels, part of our ongoing reflection and evaluation process:

  • Enhancing Social Entrepreneurship: It's crucial to amplify the focus on Social Entrepreneurship, increasing its visibility and appeal for broader engagement.

  • Valuing Diversity: The richness of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and resources is fundamental. This multidisciplinary approach is vital in both social economy education and practice.

  • Universities as Change Agents: Universities are more than educational institutions; they are societal integrators and key players in decolonizing academic spaces.
  • Actualizing Social Economy Values: Merely agreeing on social economy values is not enough. These values must be actively incorporated into educational curricula and daily practices, fostering active citizenship.

  • Practical Educational Strategies: Addressing the needs in social economy education requires a pragmatic approach, simplifying engagement in co-design and delivery for social economy practitioners.

  • Strengthening European Social Economy Capacities: Utilizing support schemes is essential to bolster social economy capacities in Europe, providing valuable insights for policy development.

  • Expanding Beyond the Social Economy Action Plan: Implementing the social economy Action Plan is a starting point, not the end goal. Raising awareness and visibility of social economy across disciplines and sectors is imperative.

  • Fostering a Global Social Economy Movement: We aim to cultivate a global SE movement with a local impact and global perspective, encouraging collaborations across diverse contexts and promoting youth leadership.

  • These conclusions not only encapsulate our journey but also chart the path forward as we continue to champion social economy education and its transformative potential.
